When was Reitmans created?
Reitmans was created in 1926 by Herman and Sarah Reitman, a couple with deep entrepreneurial roots that decided to open a small clothing shop on Boulevard St. Laurent in Montreal. The company quickly gained a reputation for the quality of their collections and their excellent customer service.
Soon after, Reitman became a nationwide success, opening new stores, offering better collections and even opening new brands that catered to other needs, such as maternity wear and younger women. After almost four decades, Retiman became Canada's largest women’s specialty retailer.
The company remained a family owned business. Today, the owners are Herman and Sarah Reitmans grandchildren, who run the family business and keep the memory of their grandparents alive. Reitmans donates to several charities and hires local employees in both their stores and distribution centers.
