When was Giant Tiger created?
Giant Tiger was founded in 1961 in Ottawa by Gordon Reid. Business was slow at first and the next year Reid was getting ready to close his store, but the going out of business sale provided enough money to keep it afloat. In 1965 the Brockville location was opened, and by 1971 Giant Tiger had reached six stores.
Since 2005 the chain has been quickly expanding, opening seven new stores in the Greater Toronto Area that year. In 2010 the company opened its 200th store.
