The story of PA Supermarché begins in 1989 when Sam and Taso, two Montreal brothers of Greek immigrant parents, bought a small grocery store serving the Greek community in the heart of Mile End’s ethnic neighborhood at the corner of Parc Avenue and Saint Joseph Boulevard. When Taso Erimos acquired it in 1989, the Park Avenue supermarket was just a small Greek grocery store owned by the Manousos, this immigrant family who opened the business in 1961. Then they expanded it five or six times. Thirty years after the opening of their first neighborhood grocery store, and with more grocery stores in Montreal and in Laval, PA Supermarchés’ commitment to the neighborhood has not waivered. Plans of expansion still are part of their goal.
